Basic Go-To Make-Up Routine

Lately I've been getting requests to film a tutorial on my everyday make-up routine but I've been busy, so maybe next time? Since I'm unable to film, I thought maybe I could help by writing a step-by-step post on how I do my make-up and about the products I use. Hope it helps!

To start of, I don't use make up everyday...I only doll up during the weekends or for special occasions/functions. This post will be on my most basic go-to make-up routine I follow due to me being always lazy & on-the-go.

BAREFACED

First off, start with your base. I use Stila's CC Color Correcting Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 20 in Light. It helps even out my uneven skin tone, provides good coverage & protects me from UV rays.

Apply only a generous amount because you don't want to look all caked up. Bases that feels light on your skin but still gives you the coverage you need are my favourite kind of bases! Even out your base with your middle and index finger.

Next, fill in your brows. I use Shu Uemura's Hand Formula Eyebrow Pencil in Stone Grey 05. If you plan to purchase one for yourself, I recommend getting assistance from the people working there as to what shade suits you best before buying it.

The eyebrow pencil might look complicated but it's really easy to use once you get the hang of it. When filling in your eyebrows, make sure you use light and small strokes according to the direction of your eyebrow growth.

Brush your brows with a mascara wand (just so you know, I got it from Daiso) and make sure the colour gradient goes from light to dark, inside out.

Heads up! If the pencil lead breaks or goes blunt, you can always send it back to the shop and get them to sharpen it for you for free.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO SHARPEN IT ON YOUR OWN.
Disclaimer : You will fail.

After making sure your eyebrows are on point, continue by lining your eyes. I use Maybelline's Hypersharp Liner. I literally only know how to use this eyeliner. I've mastered this so well that if you were to hand me any other eyeliner, I would make a huge mess. I find it really easy to use, application is really smooth as well.

Normally, people shut their eyes when lining their lids. In my case, I open them. It might be impossible for some of you but for me, it works like a charm. I basically open my eyes and line according to the curve of my eyelids. If you're the kind of person who can't line with your eyes closed as well then hop onboard!!! Or else, line the usual way...it's entirely up to you. #don'tjudge

As you can see, I like having my eyeliner drawn thick and not to mention my favourite (chicken) wing. Not sure why but I'm not a fan of thinly drawn eyeliner but if you are, suit yourself. Once again, it's entirely up to you to customise this look!

After lining your eyes, go ahead and curl your lashes with an eyelash curler. Make sure you curl your lashes as close to your eyelids as possible to avoid uneven bending of your lashes. Once you get the curl you want, apply some mascara on.

I'm using Benefit's They're Real Lengthening Mascara. This is the sample product I got from Sephora and I love it! Can't wait to run out so I can nab myself a full sized one.

Use a concealer after to conceal unwanted blemishes and dark circles. I'm using the Flawless Skin Protecting Concealer from The Body Shop. It was the first ever concealer I've ever bought in my life and I'm staying loyal to it. It has a moisturising balm in the centre of the product that helps keep my eye area moisturised.

After applying the concealer on designated areas, gently use your fingers to smoothen it out. This concealer is really easy to carry around and the application is really smooth. Coverage is 8/10 as well!

After concealing, I seal my look with my favourite Maybelline White Superfresh in Sand Beige. Dab it gently all over your face for a perfect matte finish. This product is legit! It really says what it does. It keeps my skin shine free throughout the day and it smells absolutely amazing. It's definitely one of my go-to make-up products because I absolutely hate having that oily shine on my face. I have to give it to them, it works wonders for a drugstore make-up. It also has UV protection which is essential for me because I'm always going in and out of places.

Dab it gently on all parts of your face and make sure it's evenly spread out.

So now you're looking all porcelain, time to add some colour! My favourite lipstick of all time that goes with any occasion, be it day or night has to be 3CE's Matte Lip Colour #308 Pink Jam. It's really long lasting and not to mention moisturising. Definitely my favourite go-to lipstick for the time being!

Heads up! Dont't forget to apply lip balm before your coat of lipstick! I'm using EOS's Visibly Soft Lip Balm - Vanilla Mint.

MADE UP

And there your have it, my most basic go-to make-up routine. I hope it didn't bore you to death or anything :p Enjoy recreating this look!

Food Adventures (6)

It's been too long since I wrote about food! Here's a lowdown on goodies I've discovered over the time I've been missing in action.

The Grumpy Cyclist in TTDI.

Food & drinks were alright. I enjoyed my salted caramel cake but the pancake was a bit too dense for my liking. I wanted to try the savouries they had on the menu as well but it wasn't exactly the right time for it. They don't have a lot of choices for food but the cafe is generally a really nice place to chill. They have board games and if I'm not mistaken, bicycle enthusiast activities going on as well.

Address: 36, Jalan Datuk Sulaiman, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, 60000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

JEQ In The House, Section 17.

I didn't know such a cafe existed nearby my place but I'm glad I stumbled upon it. The food was great even though they lacked variety. The Tiramisu was absolutely mouthwatering! A definite must try.

Address : No. 19, Jalan 17/45, Section 17, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Strangers @ 47, Section 17.

Located right beside JEQ In The House, this lovely cafe serves the most unique crepes I've ever tasted. Crepes are the only food they have on their menu and I think it's more than enough. They have a wide range of unique flavours to their crepes, be it sweet or savoury. I would definitely recommend  the Purple Rage (Taro crepe), it's absolutely amazing in taste & texture. MUST TRY!!! I can't wait to head back

Address: 47, Jalan 17/45, Seksyen 17, 46400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

Awesome Canteen, Taman Paramount.

Food served at Awesome Canteen has a very homemade & rustic feel to it. It's pretty basic food but the standards are definitely there. I particularly enjoyed their Paleo Diet - Beef Patty Steak. Overall, it's a very clean meal but it definitely does not lack in taste.

Address: 19, Jalan 20/13, Taman Paramount, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf, Tropicana City Mall.

I really enjoyed how the restaurant played with the different styles of preparing pork dishes. They had a few twist to how the Chinese prepares them and also a lot of westernised pork dishes. I enjoyed my meal there but I feel that it was slightly overpriced for such a simple meal.

*Three Little Pigs & The Big Bad Wolf also has a branch in Bangsar Village.

Address: Tropicana City Mall, Lot G35, Jalan SS 20/27, Selangor, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Nana's Green Tea, Mid Valley.

Calling all green tea lovers, here's your haven as well as mine! I really enjoyed the parfait, definitely too big for one person to finish so here's where sharing is caring comes in :p The new folded & stuffed pancakes were not as good as it looked on display. It looked pretty pathetic & tasted pretty normal to me. I suggest that if you plan to go, head straight to the parfaits!

Address : Lot LG355, Lower Ground Floor Rainforest, 1 Utama Shopping Centre. Lingkaran Syed Putra, The Gardens Mall, Mid Valley City, Lot 231A, Lower Ground Floor, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

[HLG ATELIER] We've Upgraded!

It's been a while since I last updated or even talked about my online shopping site - HLG ATELIER. I spent a few months on a hiatus thinking of ways to make shopping on HLG Atelier a more fulfilling & enjoyable one. I realised I lacked variety and creativity therefore I decided to pause for a while to see what I was able to do about it. The idea sparked when I was contacted by a few Malaysians living outside of Malaysia a while ago telling me how they'd like to purchase my products. Thing was, I had no plans of going international then. I gave myself a long time to think about what exactly I wanted HLG Atelier to be and I finally got it. I wanted it to be an international marketplace that featured unique up & coming international brands & products.

I moved from one e-commerce platform to another and redesigned the whole structure of how I wanted my site to be. I've imported a variety of brands from all over the world and also uniquely designed products that can only be found on my online shopping site. The price of the products have definitely went up by a few percentage but so did the quality of the goods.

Even though it has been 2 years+ since I've been doing this, it still feels like the beginning. There's definitely more to come and more changes to be made. In the mean time, I really hope that you guys enjoy what I have put up. Your support means everything to me and it keeps me going so please don't stop! Lots of love, x.

Last Sports Day

It's senior year and this is literally my last ever sports day (unless they have it in college too...) I'm going to miss cheerleading tryouts & practices even though it drains me like crazy but I had fun while it lasted. Four years in the same team & four years cursed. Green was never placed for cheerleading because well...we're "cursed". Nevermind that, what's done is done and I'm more than grateful that I was able to be co-captain for the team and work with so many hidden talents in such a short amount of time. We did our best and we're champion at hearts :)

So proud of everything we have achieved and so glad I got to help you out with the team, Kenanga.
